Michael Portillo, said the right thing “it is easier to be Pundit than a politician”. His comments in ‘The Sunday Times’ June 25, do point out the autocratic announcement of Gordon Brown that he will renew the British nuclear deterrent.
For me equally interesting point came from the new Tory leader David Cameron, who declared that he would repeal Human Rights Act. What a cheap point scoring by the two grumpy faced politicians, Gordon and David?
It was very interesting yesterday morning on Radio 4, speaker for ‘thought for the day’ pointed out that how short sighted this declaration was by David Cameron, when immediacy after that one of the BBC reporter pointed to North Korea has no respect for Human Rights.
“Human Rights” is a stick used by Britain and the USA all the time rubbish many governments such as China, Pakistan, Turkey and other. I wonder what stick they will be left with when the USA and Britain both repeal the Human Rights Act”.
Suppose tomorrow, David Cameron comes to power and invite Mr. Portillo to be a minister, would he accept to work under a leader who will throw away the Human Rights Act?
Or rather he stays as a Pundit than becoming a politician?
